Special Needs Department

The department focuses primarily on children and adolescents with Special Needs. It has an interdisciplinary clinic specializing in the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of children and adolescents with complex developmental disabilities, in particular those with:

Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and related Pervasive Developmental Disorders
Pediatric Chronic Illness (including Spina Bifida, Prader Willi Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy)
Developmental Disabilities and severe behavioral difficulties including aggression and self injury
Mental retardation, Downs’s syndrome, communication challenges and learning disability

Special Needs Department

Special needs program and services primarily consist of instruction and assessments that are different from those provided to the general pediatric population. These may take the form of accommodations (such as specific teaching strategies, preferential seating, and assistive technology) and/or an educational program that is modified from the age-appropriate grade level expectations.

Our Programs


Individualized health education program (IHEP)

IHEP is an individualized session specifically designed to meet the unique educational and health needs of a person with Special Needs. An IEHP is the guiding document for an educational program. It includes all of the goals, objectives, and present levels of performance and related services that are recommended for the person with Special Needs.

Special Needs Day Care (SNDC)

Special needs day care run by special needs department have designed a unique Special Integration of Child with Special Needs (ICSN) program for children with special needs. Children with special needs in a group are monitored by qualified professionals. The program provides regular and need based special intensive training on a daily basis. The ICSN program primarily focuses on child’s social, linguistic and academic skills development.
