The Learning Improvement Program (LIP) is designed to support school-going children in grades 1 to 6 who face
difficulties in fundamental academic skills such as reading, writing, and math. Many children struggle to meet
grade-level expectations, which hinders their educational progress. LIP addresses this gap by providing targeted
academic interventions in a structured and supportive group setting, where individual needs are carefully
assessed
and addressed.
The program focuses on improving reading comprehension, phonetics, vocabulary, sentence structure, grammar, and
problem-solving skills in math through engaging, interactive teaching methods. Small group sessions with a 2:1
therapist-to-child ratio ensure that each child receives personalized attention, supported by a 4:1 ratio of
additional staff. Sessions are conducted three times a week, each lasting two hours, and incorporate both
functional
academics and hands-on activities to make learning enjoyable and practical.
LIP is designed to create measurable outcomes, tracked through individualized education plans (IEPs) and both
formal
and informal assessments. The program helps children build essential academic skills, boosting their confidence
and
motivation for future learning challenges. With a dedicated team of therapists and educators, LIP provides a
nurturing environment that helps children overcome learning difficulties and achieve their full academic
potential.
The Early Intervention Program (EIP) at Qatar Institute for Speech and Hearing (QISH) is a family-centered
service designed to support toddlers and young children, aged 3 to 4 years, who are at risk of developmental
delays. Our program is led by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including speech therapists, occupational
therapists, physiotherapists, behavioral therapists, and special educators, all working together to foster the
essential skills that typically develop in the early years of life. EIP focuses on improving communication and
language skills, enhancing cognitive abilities, encouraging socialization and play, improving motor and sensory
processing, developing self-care and independence, and preparing children for learning and academic
readiness.
EIP at QISH, we offer both individualized therapies and group therapies to ensure that each child’s specific
needs are addressed. Individual therapy sessions provide one-on-one attention to help children meet personal
developmental goals, while group therapy fosters social interactions and cooperative learning. Every plan is
carefully tailored to support the child's unique challenges and developmental goals, helping them overcome
regressed or delayed skills during this critical stage of growth.
A key aspect of the EIP at QISH is our strong focus on family involvement. We believe that parents and
caregivers play a vital role in the intervention process, and their active participation during therapy sessions
ensures that progress made in the clinic is reinforced at home. By empowering families with the knowledge and
strategies to support their child’s development, we create a collaborative and nurturing environment that
accelerates improvement.
Through our Early Intervention Program, we are committed to helping children with developmental delays build the
foundational skills they need to thrive. Our goal is to give every child the best possible start, equipping them
with the tools they need to succeed in their early years and beyond.
The transition to school is a significant milestone that can shape a child’s academic and social experiences for
years to come. It’s a time of excitement and change, but it can also be a period of adjustment that requires
careful preparation. A successful transition requires ensuring they are emotionally and socially prepared to
engage with their new environment. Why is School Readiness Important?
Our school readiness program focuses on building foundational skills, fostering emotional resilience, and
enhancing social adaptability, all of which are crucial for a child’s overall success. Through a combination of
structured classroom activities and guided play, we help children develop the skills they need to approach their
new school experience with confidence and enthusiasm.
